Salman Shah, a brilliant star of Bangladeshi cinema, won the hearts of millions with his brief but impactful career. He tragically passed away on September 6, 1996, at the young age of 25. His body was found hanging from a fan in his Eskaton home, an event that caused a nationwide stir. His untimely death continues to mourn his fans.
Even 28 years after his death, the circumstances surrounding it remain shrouded in mystery. In 2020, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) claimed that Salman had committed suicide. They attributed his suicide to marital discord with his wife Samira and his close relationship with actress Shabnur. However, Salman Shah's mother, Neela Chowdhury, has never accepted this conclusion. She has consistently maintained that her son was a victim of a planned murder.
In a recent interview from London, Neela Chowdhury reiterated that Salman did not commit suicide but was murdered. She claimed that hired assassins from India were used to kill Salman, and influential figures, including Aziz Mohammed Bhai, were involved in the crime. She also mentioned that she had been threatened and there were plans to abduct her.
Neela Chowdhury further alleged that Salman’s wife Samira was never properly interrogated as a suspect and that the accused individuals were never arrested. She has called for the revival of the case and justice for Salman’s murder.
Salman Shah was born on September 19, 1970, in Sylhet. His real name was Shahriar Chowdhury Imon. Initially working on television, he quickly rose to fame in the film industry. His notable films include "Kiyamat Theke Kiyamat," "Ontore Ontore," "Booker Vitor Aagun," "Tomake Chai," and "Sotyer Mrittu Nei."
