Today marks the 60th birthday of the legendary Bangladeshi rockstar, James, also known as Nagor Baul. Born on October 2, 1964, in Naogaon, he grew up in Chattogram. His father was a government official who later became the chairman of the Chattogram Education Board. James began his musical journey against the wishes of his family and, after a disagreement with his father over his passion for music, left home.

He ran away in pursuit of his musical dreams and started living at Aziz Boarding in Chattogram, where his music career took off.

In 1980, he formed a band called "Feelings," where he was both the lead guitarist and vocalist.

James released his debut album, Station Road, in 1987, but it was the release of his 1988 album Anonna that propelled him to superstardom.

In the following years, several successful albums were released by the band, including Jail Theke Bolchi (1990), Nagor Baul (1996), Lace Fita Lace (1998), and Collection of Feelings (1999).

James also found success in playback singing for films, with many of his songs becoming hits. He won the National Film Award for his songs in the movies Desha: The Leader and Shatta.

James’ fame reached beyond Bangladesh, as he made waves in Bollywood. In 2005, his song "Bheegi Bheegi" from the film *Gangster* became an instant hit, sparking widespread recognition in the industry. The following year, he sang "Chal Chale" for the film Woh Lamhe. In 2007, James lent his voice to two tracks, "Rishtey" and "Alvida," in the film *Life in a... Metro*, further cementing his success in Bollywood.
