During the biggest festival of the Sanatan community, Durga Puja, actress Nusrat Jahan often finds herself in the spotlight. Despite being born into a Muslim family, she participates in nearly all festivities, which leads to a fair share of trolling. However, she remains undeterred and continues to live life on her own terms.
In an interview with Indian media, Nusrat shared, "Typically, I try to spend Durga Puja with Yash (her partner) in Kolkata. It gives us a chance to spend time with family outside of work. Additionally, many of our friends come to the city during these four days, allowing us to catch up and enjoy some good times together."
She added, "Every year on the afternoon of Ashtami, I love to have the bhog (offering). I've probably faced mockery for it a hundred times! But even after that, I offer Anjali (prayers) on Ashtami. I will continue to do so in the coming days. Faith is not dependent on any religion or language; it's a personal decision. I don’t pay attention to trolling because everyone has the right to live life in their own way. No one can dictate how another person should live."
Nusrat concluded, "I have heard various comments about this year’s Puja. In my view, the Puja doesn’t change. Just like every time, I will stand before everyone and wish well for all. My city is facing tough times, and I hope peace reaches it."
