The highly anticipated Superman film directed by James Gunn has unveiled its first trailer.
Starring David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, the movie is being touted as a major reboot for the DC movie universe (DCU), which Gunn became co-CEO of in 2022.
The trailer opens with a scene featuring Krypto, Superman’s beloved superdog, and gives few details about the plot, except for hints that Lex Luthor (played by a bald Nicholas Hoult) plays a key role, along with a fire-breathing dragon. Superman also seems to face public backlash, with one angry citizen hitting him on the head with a disposable cup.
Following his ambitious plans for the DCU, Gunn's film – originally titled Superman: Legacy – marks the first chapter in a new series, Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. This series will also include films focused on Supergirl, Clayface, and Swamp Thing.
The movie is set to release on July 10 in Australia, and July 11 in the US and UK.
