The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) has reportedly linked several prominent Bangladeshi actresses and a singer to drug-related activities, sparking widespread attention. Among those named are Tanjin Tisha, Safa Kabir, Mumtaheena Toya, and singer Sunidhi Nayak. Authorities are currently conducting a detailed investigation, and a report has been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The allegations surfaced following the arrest of Arindam Roy Deep, a former student of North South University, accused of managing a WhatsApp group used for drug transactions. Evidence, including chat records and call logs, allegedly implicates the actresses and singer in procuring drugs.
Responding to these claims, Tanjin Tisha dismissed the allegations as baseless, stating, “These are all lies. I am confident that these accusations are false.”
Similarly, Mumtaheena Toya denied any involvement, saying, “I don’t know anything about this. I request everyone not to subject me to a media trial. Allah is the best judge.”
Investigators, however, claim they have verified phone numbers linked to drug orders and matched them to registration details, with some numbers allegedly belonging to the accused. Tisha’s number, notably, was registered under her mother’s name.
The investigation is ongoing, and the DNC has assured that legal action will follow upon its conclusion. Public reaction remains divided, with some urging caution against premature judgments while others demand accountability.
