Legendary Bollywood Director Shyam Benegal Passes Away

Renowned Bollywood director Shyam Benegal, a towering figure in Indian cinema, has passed away at the age of 90. He breathed his last at 6:30 PM on Monday. The news of his death was confirmed by his daughter, Pia Benegal.

Indian media reports indicate that Benegal had been suffering from age-related health issues for some time, along with kidney-related problems.

Interestingly, Shyam Benegal had celebrated his 90th birthday on December 14, just a few days before his passing. He spent the day with family and friends. 

Attendees at his birthday celebration included notable actors such as Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Naseeruddin Shah, Divya Dutta, Shabana Azmi, Rajit Kapoor, Atul Tiwari, and Kunal Kapoor, son of legendary actor Shashi Kapoor.
