National Film Award-winning actress and dancer Anjana Rahman has passed away.
She breathed her last on Friday night (January 3) at around 1:30 AM at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital.
Her son, Nishat Mani, confirmed the news to the media.
She had been receiving treatment for fever and a blood infection at the ICU of a private hospital in the capital. However, her condition deteriorated, and she was admitted to BSMMU Hospital on Wednesday (January 1) night and put on life support.
Anjana made her debut in the film industry with the movie 'Dossyu Bonhur'. Over her career, she acted in more than three hundred films. She won the National Film Award twice for her performances in 'Porinita' and 'Gangchil'. Before entering the film industry, Anjana was a renowned dancer. She began her acting career in 1976 with Bablu Chowdhury's film 'Setu', but her first released film was 'Dossyu Bonhur', directed by Shamsuddin Togor, where she starred opposite Sohel Rana in this mystery-based film.
