Prabir Mitra Hospitalised

Veteran actor Prabir Mitra has been undergoing treatment at a private medical hospital in the capital.

Sifat Islam, younger son of the actor, confirmed the news.

Prabir Mitra has been admitted to hospital on December 22 as he was facing complications from oxygen deficiency and other ailments, said his son.

The actor was born in Chandpur city. He is a permanent resident of old Dhaka by lineage. His full name is Prabir Kumar Mitra. He completed his schooling from St. Gregory and graduated from Jagannath College (now Jagannath University). Prabir Mitra's wife Ajanta Mitra died in 2000. He has one daughter and three sons. The youngest son died on May 7, 2012.

Prabir Mitra first stood in front of the camera in 1969 to act in the film 'Jolchhobi' by the late H Akbar. The film was released on January 1, 1971. At the beginning of his career, Prabir Mitra acted in a few films as an 'actor'. After that, he gained popularity by working as a character actor.
