Corona Tests Being Done at 7 Centres in Country: Minister

Minister of Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque said coronavirus tests are being carried out in the country's seven centres.

The minister disclosed this knowledge after being connected to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Analysis (IEDCR) daily press briefing on Sunday in the capital city.

He said, "The IEDCR, IPH, National Institute of Laboratory Medicine, icddr'b, Shishu Hospital, Children's Health Research Foundation and Idesh (A Non-Profit Scientific Health Service Organization) are already equipped for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) study. The amount would further increase.

Zahid Maleque said the initiative was taken in every division of the country for the PCR research. The coronavirus research was conducted in chattogram at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases. The job is almost completed in Rangpur and Rajshahi Medical College and Hospitals to mount PCR devices.

He told that work has already started to set up PCR machines at Mymensigh Medical College and Hospital. Certain divisions of the world will start the coronavirus tests in rest within 7 to 10 days.

 Three lakh personal protective equipment (PPE) is supplied to different hospitals, he said.

"We have in our hand 500 ventilators. Therefore, there will be 450 ventilators to arrive. We already have 45,000 packages to test the corona.
