Two dengue patients died and 232 more were admitted to the hospital in the previous 24 hours to Saturday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

187 of the new patients were admitted to government and private hospitals in Dhaka, with the remaining 45 cases coming from outside the division.

This year, 15,460 people have been identified with dengue fever, with 59 of them dying.

As of Saturday morning, 1,197 people with dengue fever were being treated around the country.

990 of them are being treated at various facilities in the capital, while the rest 207 are being treated outside of Dhaka.

According to the DGHS, 14,204 dengue patients have been released from hospitals after recovering.

The country has been facing the deadlier Delta strain of coronavirus with limited healthcare resources for the previous few months, and the dengue outbreak has now become a major cause of concern.
