241 More Dengue Patients Hospitalized in Bangladesh

241 more people were hospitalized with dengue infections in the past 24-hour ending 8:00am on Sunday.

With these, the number of people hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne viral disease reached 15,701 while it claimed the lives of 59 people since January this year, according to the Health Emergency Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services press release.

In the 24 hours, 184 were hospitalised in Dhaka and 57 in other areas across the country, said the DGHS press release.

Of the 59 people died of dengue since January, 54 were in Dhaka city, two each in Chattogram division and Khulna division and one was in Rajshahi division.

Among the total hospitalised patients since January, 13,643 or 86.89 per cent were hospitalised in Dhaka.

In 19 days in September, 5,345 patients were hospitalised in Bangladesh and in August, 7,698 patients were admitted to hospitals.

A total of 2,286 hospitalised cases were recorded in July and in the six months from January to June, the total figure was 372.

On Sunday, 1,107 dengue patients, including 900 in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, were undergoing treatment in different health facilities across the country.

According to the release, 14,535 patients have recovered from dengue since January.
