According to the Institute of
Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), 10 people have been
identified in the country so far. Health Secretary Mohammad Lokman Hossain Mia
said that notification of restriction may be issued in the next couple of
days to control Omicron.
He was responding to
reporters' questions after a program at the National Cancer Research Institute
and Hospital in the capital on Wednesday (January 5th).
The secretary said the notification could be issued at any
time.
A special inter-ministerial meeting was held on January 3 to
prevent Omicron. At the end of the meeting, the health minister said that there
was some discussion about keeping Omicron under control. Screening has already
been stepped up and strengthened at ground and airports. Antigen testing has
also been introduced there. Quarantine has also been further urged.
The minister said those infected should be kept in proper
quarantine. If necessary, the police should be kept under guard. We don't want
loose quarantine this time. It has been urged to limit the number of social,
political and religious ceremonies. There has been some positive discussion in
principle.
He said that the seating capacity of the transports should be
reduced and managed. At the same time, you have to wear a mask even if you go
to shops, buses, trains and mosques. Masks must be worn everywhere. If not, you
will be asked to pay a fine. These decisions have been taken. And it will be managed
through mobile courts. '
Stating that importance has been given to vaccination, the
health minister said, "Those who have been vaccinated can go to
restaurants. You can go to the office. You can do everything, but wear a
mask. You can't eat in a restaurant without getting vaccinated. Vaccine
certificate must be shown there. If it is not complied with, the restaurant
will be fined.”
