COVID Cases Rise above 5,000 in 24 Hrs

In the 24 hours leading up to 8 am Sunday, the country saw a dramatic increase in daily infections, with 5,222 more persons testing positive for Covid-19.

For the first time since August 24, when 5,249 confirmed cases were recorded across the country, the number of daily cases has surpassed 5,000.

During the 24-hour span, the illness claimed the lives of eight people.

The country witnessed seven more deaths and 3,447 cases a day ago.

Meanwhile, health officials reported a positivity rate of 17.82 percent on Sunday, up from 14.35 percent the day before, after analyzing 29,305 samples across the country.
