Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — an Austrian composer — was born on this day in 1756. He is one of the most prolific composers whose name is written in golden letters in the history of music.

Lewis Carroll — an English writer — was born on this day in 1832. He is well-known for his world-famous children's fiction “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland”.

Ilya Ehrenburg — a Soviet writer, Bolshevik revolutionary, journalist, and historian — was born on this day in 1891. He was among the most prolific and notable authors of the Soviet Union.

Nick Mason — an English drummer — was born on this day in 1944. He is best known as the founding member of the world-famous rock band Pink Floyd.

Deaths

On this day in 1922, Nellie Bly — an American journalist — died. She is best known for her record-breaking trip around the world, inspired by Jules Verne's book ‘Around The World in 80 Days’.

On this day in 1986, Nikhil Banerjee — an Indian classical sitarist — died. He is regarded as a legend of Indian classical music.

On this day in 2014, Pete Seeger — an American folk singer and social activist — died. He is remembered as a prolific songwriter and for his contributions to the then Folk scene.
