It may sound unbelievable, but China has actually launched an undergraduate degree program focused on marriage. The goal is straightforward: to revitalize all aspects of marriage culture.

This course, which started in September, stirred considerable buzz on social media even before its launch. For several years, there have been concerns that Chinese people are losing interest in marriage. This trend is not limited to marriage; China is also experiencing a decline in birth rates. Overall, this situation has caused worry for the Jinping government, as a large population has been one of Beijing's key drivers for development. To maintain development at a steady pace, officials are now seeking ways to boost population growth, starting with marriage.

The program is titled "Marriage Services and Management." The new degree will focus on the marriage industry, aiming to foster a positive perception of marriage and family culture among students. The curriculum is designed to strengthen the marriage system in China, incorporating topics such as family counseling. Already, around 70 undergraduates from 12 provinces have registered for the program.
