Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to operate an 'experimental commercial' flight from Dhaka to Toronto, Canada on March 26 on the occasion of Independence Day.

The airline announced the sale of tickets on Saturday (March 19) afternoon. However, no tickets were found even after 18 minutes of the start of ticket sales. According to the airline's sales center, these tickets are 'not for ordinary passengers'.

In a statement sent to the media at 5:39 pm, Biman authorities said that Biman Bangladesh is launching a test commercial flight to Dhaka-Toronto on Independence Day. Tickets will be on sale from 5:30 pm. Passengers can purchase tickets by visiting the airline's commercial website (www.biman-airlines.com).

However, after 18 minutes, at 5:48 pm, it was seen that all the tickets for that flight were sold out. 'Sold out' was written in the ticket booking box on March 26.

Biman's Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Tahera Khandaker said in a statement that tickets for the March 26 flight to Dhaka-Toronto can be purchased from any of Biman's sales centers, Biman Call Center 01990997997 and Biman Authorized Travel Agencies.

However, Biman's call center at 6 pm was informed by Biman that the March 26 Dhaka-Toronto flight was not for ordinary passengers. This is an experimental special flight. For this reason, tickets for this flight are not being sold.

Passengers wishing to come to the country from Canada can purchase tickets from Biman's website or by contacting any of Biman's sales centers or authorized travel agencies located in Bangladesh.

According to the notification, flight BG 305 from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka will depart for Toronto Pearson International Airport on March 26 at 11:30 pm. The flight will arrive in Toronto on March 27 at 7:15 a.m. local time. The return flight BG306 from Toronto will depart at 10 am local time on March 29 and reach Dhaka on March 30 at 12:15 pm local time. The Toronto flight will be operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

The airline requested passengers to follow the Canadian travel instructions and check the corona within a maximum of 72 hours before departure with a negative certificate.

For several years now, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been talking about launching direct flights from Dhaka to Toronto. According to the latest announcement of the airline, the flight to Toronto is going to start from March 26. However, sources said that the airline authorities have announced the launch of the flight without completing all the preparations. So on that day a test flight is scheduled to go to Toronto. Aviation authorities have not yet confirmed when regular commercial flights will begin.
