Malaysia has sent back 68 prisoners, including Bangladeshis, who were detained at different times, as per a local agency report.

The Pekan Nenas Immigration Detention Depot and Johor state immigration department said immigrants were deported after completing their sentences.

A total of 68 detainees, including 37 Bangladeshis, 14 Chinese, 15 Indonesians and one Nepalese and one Thai, were repatriated from the Pekan Nenas immigration detention centre directly through Kuala Lumpur International Airport KLIA-1 and KLIA Terminal-2 as well as Senai International Airport (LTAS), the state's immigration department said in a statement on August 17.

They are deported at their own cost by air and land after obtaining citizenship verification passes from their respective national embassies after completing their sentences for various offences under Malaysia's Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963 as well as other enforcement agency laws.

At the same time, they were 'blacklisted' so that they could not enter Malaysia again.
