Libya has sent back another 154 undocumented Bangladeshi migrants.
The repatriation took place under a coordinated effort by the foreign ministry, the Bangladesh mission in Tripoli and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the foreign ministry said in a handout on Friday (September 20).
The returnees arrived at Dhaka airport at 7am boarding on a chartered flight of Buraq Air.
As part of the repatriation process, IOM provided each individual with Tk 6,000 in cash, some food supplies, medical care and temporary accommodation.
After landing in Dhaka, officials of the foreign ministry and IOM received and assisted the returnees.
This repatriation is part of an ongoing effort by the Bangladesh government and IOM to bring home Bangladeshis who have been stranded in Libya without legal documents.
The foreign ministry, in collaboration with the embassy in Tripoli, has been working closely with IOM to ensure the safe and dignified return of these vulnerable individuals, the ministry said.
