Salman Shah: The Most Revered Icon of Bangladesh

Salman Shah, who reigned the silver screen in the ‘90s, made an outstanding contribution to the film industry during his short career. Today is the 26th death anniversary of the Dhallywood superstar, whose lifeless body was found hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom. The exact cause of his death still remains a mystery, with many calling it a murder.

Shahriar Chowdhury Emon, popularly known as Salman Shah, was one of the most prominent film actors of Bangladesh of his time.

Even 26 years after his death, Salman Shah and the legacy of his remarkable, short-lived, career is still remembered by his admirers.

Born on September 19 in 1971 in Sylhet, Salman Shah started his career with the television serial ‘Pathor Shomoy’. He made his debut in the film industry in 1993 with the movie ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ with Moushumi at the age of 22.

Salman Shah was not only a beloved actor, but also a style icon. Today marks the 26th year of his death, a day that continues to strike pain in the hearts of the legions of fans he left behind.

In his brief acting career, he starred in 27 films, most of which were blockbuster hits.

Apart from films, he also worked in a handful of TV plays with great success. Salman-acted dramas are ‘Deoal’, ‘Shob Pakhi Ghore Fire’, ‘Shaikote Sharosh’, ‘Pathor Shomoi’ ‘Iti Kotha’, ‘Noyon’ and ‘Swapner Prithibi’.
