Motijheel is the busiest commercial area of Dhaka. There is a foreign trade branch of Rupali Bank next to Shapla Chatwar. There is a narrow lane behind at the end of the Motijheel. Boat crossings are still going on there, even after a hundred years.
Every day hundreds of people cross Kheya (boat) to reach Motijheel in less time. The passengers of the boat said that to save time, they travel across this route.
In the 1970s, a siki (25 paise) was used to make the boat crossing. Then adhuli (50 paise), then a hundred paise, for a long time two taka.
Six months ago, the fare was jumped to five taka.
