DCC Polls: Taposh Campaigning in Old Dhaka

Awami League backed mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation election, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh is campaigning in Old Dhaka's Babubazar area today.

He said he will revive the heritage of old Dhaka and make it a developed, modern and liveable city if people elect him as their mayor, while addressing a brief rally under Babubazar Bridge.

Although he was supposed to begin at noon, he reached the spot at 2:30pm. The surrounding areas and roads turned chaotic upon the arrival of his motorcade, which included police vans for his security.

The area was quickly gridlocked as several hundred leaders and activists of AL and its associate organizations were also present.

He shook hands with people, hugged them and exchanged greetings at Old Dhaka’s business hub, Islampur.

Enthusiastic leaders and activists showered flower petals on him from both sides of the road.

Taposh is expected to continue electioneering in the area till 8pm, said his personal secretary Md Tarek.
