Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, offered 'Eid gift of 'saris' to a significant number of women in Keraniganj on behalf of the party chairperson Khaled Zia in the midst of the coronavirus 'lockdown.'
Nipun Roy Chowdhury, Gayeshwar's daughter-in-law, and BNP 's executive committee member got a donation from 2,200 people.
Talking to the media, Gayeshwar said that he had been in coronatine for a long time due to coronavirus prevalence. "In the name of Khaleda Zia, I sent saris for the women of my home constituency."
He said the saris had been brought to women's homes in various locations in Keraniganj with the assistance of local BNP members and activists.
The BNP leader said he also sent lungis for the poor men in Keraniganj.
In addition, he said, citizens were also issued packets containing maize, meat, potatoes, gasoline, soap, powdered milk, and vermicelli.
Meanwhile, BNP and its affiliates are also distributing Eid gifts to the poor in various parts of the country, including the capital, ahead of Eid-ul - Fitr.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in Bangladesh either on Sunday or Monday subject to the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal month.
