No Benefit in Spreading Rumors against Govt: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Friday that the evil power is out to propagate misinformation and lies on different issues against the country, but there will be little advantage in doing so as the country has a very strong foundation on this soil.

"Some people are making awful efforts to provoke the two powers at the root of the unfortunate death of the ex-army officer. People remain conscious of the problem, "he said.

Quader, also Secretary-General of the Awami League, said that some people are dreading to overthrow the government by raising issues about these events, but there would be little gain in spreading lies as the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is firmly entrenched in this country.

He was discussing an exchange of views with officials of the Khulna Road Zone, BRTA and BRTC at the Roads and Highways Department here, joining him as part of daily discussions from his official residence via videoconferencing.

The Minister said that legal proceedings has already started over the death of the former army soldier, as the government is quite committed to this end.

He encouraged those concerned to be diligent and avoid the propagation of rumours on social media at home and abroad, in order to discover the facts by careful inquiry.

The Minister said that the government of Sheikh Hasina will not allow anyone to raise issues about such incidents, rather it will take immediate action to resolve the matter.
