Radicals Creating Debates Over Bangabandhu’s Sculpture: Quader

On Saturday, Awami League General Secretary and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said a communal force is generating unnecessary debates over the establishing of sculptures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Father of the Nation.

"Imaginary explanations centering on the sculpture of Bangabandhu are a challenge to the spirit of the Liberation War and the culture of the country," he told a press conference on contemporary issues at his official residence in the capital's parliament premises, reports BSS.

Quader said the sculpture of Bangabandhu, the architect of independent Bangladesh, is being misinterpreted by a religious fundamentalist community to spread hate among religious people.

Do not take the liberalism of the government as a weakness. It will not accept any remarks against the spirit of the country's Liberation War and constitution. Every evil attempt to disrupt the peace and comfort of the people will be resisted,” he said.

The minister urged the people who believe in the country’s independence and Liberation War spirit to build united resistance against all the evil efforts.

Quader said the head of the government earlier said there will be no law that will be conflicting with Quran and the Sunnah.

So, those who are making ill attempts to create an issue centering the religion to destroy the country’s religious tolerance will be dealt with an iron hand, he said.
