BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has claimed that the BNP was not involved in the series bombings, but the Awami League was involved in the series bombings and the August 21 attacks. The Awami League carried out these attacks to bring the then BNP government into disarray. Not only that, the Awami League has to take responsibility for the killing of young BDR officers in Pilkhana.

Rizvi made the remarks at a prayer and discussion meeting in Keraniganj on Wednesday (August 18) morning on the occasion of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's 77th birthday.

The meeting was organized by Keraniganj Upazila BNP and was presided over by Upazila BNP President and BNP National Executive Committee member Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury.

Criticizing the Information Minister, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said in the meeting that the government was bringing Ziaur Rahman to the fore in the August 15 incident by conspiring. But it will not benefit. He is the proclamation of great independence and the proponent of multi-party democracy. We are proud of him. The countrymen are also proud.

Criticizing the disappearances and murders in the country, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, "After the UN, this time Human Rights Watch has demanded the immediate return of the missing persons to the families and is demanding an investigation under the UN." I urge the team to return them to their families immediately. Otherwise the consequences will not be good. Involved members of law enforcement will also not be spared. The trial of disappearance and murder will take place one day.
