Nur E Alam Siddique, Former Member of Parliament from Jhenaidah-2 constituency, passed away today aged 82.
"He died at 4:37am while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in the capital on Wednesday (29 March). His body will be taken to Jhenaidah by helicopter at 10am, " Nur E Alam Siddique's secretary Aniket Rajesh told the media.
After his first funeral prayer in Jhenaidah, another funeral prayer will be held at Gulshan central mosque. At this time, Nur E Alam Siddique will be given a "guard of honour," Aniket Rajesh said adding that he will be buried in Savar.
Apart from participating in the language movement and the six-point movement, Nur E Alam Siddique took part in all the political activities of that time. He served as the president of the Chhatra League during 1970-1972. He had an important role during the Liberation War.
He was elected Member of Parliament from the then Jashore-2 Constituency as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in the first national parliamentary election of 1973.
Noor Alam Siddiqui participated in the 1996 and 2001 parliamentary elections as a candidate of the Bangladesh Awami League from the Jhenaidah-2 constituency. He was born on 26 May 1940 in Jhenaidah district.
In a condolence message, Md Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Chairman of Radiant Pharma and Executive Director of Zahedee Foundation, extended heartfelt deep condolences to the beloved members of the bereaved families.
In his message of condolence, Md Nasser Shahrear Zahedee said the void in the national arena created by his demise shall be felt deeply in the coming decades. A hero of the liberation war, respected Chacha shall remain as an idol of leadership to the generations to come.
