US Embassy Denies Discussing Road Closure Centring BNP Rally With Home Min

No discussions were held with Bangladesh's home minister regarding road closures on October 28 centering the BNP rally, the US embassy in Dhaka said in a statement issued on Monday.

"In the US Embassy meeting with the Home Minister today, October 22, the subject of road closures in Dhaka on October 28 was not discussed," the statement read, as reported by a local daily newspaper. 

According to media reports, on October 22, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas held a meeting with the Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at the Secretariat. After the meeting, the Home Minister told reporters that the US Ambassador had asked him whether the government would close the roads in Dhaka during the BNP rally on October 28._Financial Express
