Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the proposed national budget for fiscal year (2024-2025) is ‘reasonable, realistic and pro-people’. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said this while speaking at a post-budget press conference held at the central office of the Awami League at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city on Sunday.

He said that there is no precedent for Awami League Finance Ministers running around with alms bags despite giving a budget of around eight lakh crore.

Obaidul Quader said that thousands of crores of taka were smuggled out of the country during BNP era. Mirza Fakhrul must account to the nation with the money with which their leader Tarique Rahman is living a luxurious life in London.

Responding to economists' comments on budget and loan defaulters, Obaidul Quader said that the country's economists are now divided. Negative feedback about the budget can be heard from BNP's economists. Organizations like CPD and TIB also speak in tune with BNP.

However, Obaidul Quader claims that most of the country's economists have supported the proposed budget.
