State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, publicly apologized for the failure to curb misinformation on social media and the disruption of internet services during the nationwide quota reform movement.

Yesterday, Friday (August 2), he made this apology at his residence in Natore during a discussion meeting, prayer, and munajat event organized by Singra Upazila Awami League in memory of National Mourning Day.

Apologizing, Palak said, "If I have made any mistakes towards the younger generation, I publicly apologize. I take responsibility for the internet disruptions and the failure to prevent rumors on social media. I promise to accept any decision made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."

Palak further stated, "I believe the students are not to blame for this distance; it is our fault. This responsibility is ours; we have failed in our duties. There is no escaping this failure."

The State Minister continued, "As a Member of Parliament for Natore-3, this failure is mine as well. Although none of the 85,000 students in my constituency took to the streets, they are expressing their opinions and emotions on social media. They are voicing their sentiments towards the government and us. It would be incorrect to blame them for this. We need to realize and understand the feelings and thoughts of our children studying in schools, colleges, and universities."

He also emphasized the need for teachers, political leaders, and parents to communicate with the students. "The gap that has been created cannot be resolved through harsh decisions against them. We must resolve it with the right decisions. We should not opt for strict governance towards them; instead, we should be sensitive. By showing them kindness and empathy, and listening to them, I believe this misunderstanding will be cleared, and the distance will be bridged."
