Young film maker Partho Paulinews Folia said there is immense potential in Bangladeshi cinema. His short film named 'Jok' has already earned reorganization of cinematographers in addition to screenings and awards at a number of film festivals in home and abroad.

While talking about his short film, Partho spoke about his dream of being a producer and the film society of Bangladesh.

"There is a big reason behind the name of the movie," said the young producer. ''We represented outr society through this name. Whenever a girl is raped, people start to question or judge her dress-up or try to put the blame on her. On the other hand,  when a girl child is raped, parents remain silent in fear of the society. So, the society is somehow exploiting us like leaches. isn't it?''

Talking about the success of the film he said, "To be very honest, I never imagined the film will actually be so successful. People like Dr. Selina Hussain also praised our work. But our main purpose was not to get popularity but to make people aware about the situation we are going through. I would consider myself and this movie successful only when it hits people's conscience and make them more aware."

How many awards did 'Joke' won?

Some of the notable awards and film festival screenings include - 9th International Inter University Film Festival, 12th International Children's Film Festival, Global Youth Film Festival, Cefalu Film Festival (Semi Finalist), Lit of Session, Lancaster International Film Festival, CHT Film Festival, Women in Many Colors, Duemila30 (semi-finalist), etc.

What are you  doing now?

''Recently we finished shooting for another short film named 'Aro Kichu Din' written by Rudroneel Ahmed. Khairul Bashar and Pushpita Pushpo played the main characters. Talks are also underway with online streaming platform Netflix.''

What is your dream?

"My dream is to be a good storyteller as well as good human being. I want to represent my country's names in outer world. I also have a dream of taking my film to the 'Cannes Film Festival' someday. besides, becoming a hail-fellow with my work is also a dream of mine.''

Bangladeshi cinema  society is in offing, he said. There are very good content creators who can prosper if they get proper guidance and encouragement, he added.
