The High Court (HC) today issued an injunction for two months on realizing around Taka 12,580 crore due to Grameenphone (GP) by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

A High Court division bench comprising Justice AKM Abdul Hakim and Justice Fatema Najib passed the interim order, allowing an appeal filed by the mobile phone operator against a lower court order, reports BSS.

The court also set November 5 to hold a hearing on this appeal.

Advocate AM Aminuddin and Sharif Bhuiyan appeared for GP while Barrister Khandaker Reza-E-Raquib stood for BTRC.

BTRC on April 2 demanded around Taka 12,580 crore from GP as due in different items. The telecom operator later filed a case with the lower court, seeking a temporary injunction on realizing the money. But the court on August 28 scrapped the plea of GP, making it file an appeal with the High Court.

The High Court today came up with the order while holding a hearing on the admittance of that appeal.
