Indian fast bowlers were too good for Bangladesh's top order as the hosts finished the first session on top in Indore on Thursday.

Umesh Yadav provided India with the first breakthrough as he removed Imrul Kayes for six. Ishant Sharma struck in the very next over to send back Shadman Islam to leave Bangladesh 12 for two.

Mominul Haque and Mohammad Mithun tried to steady the visitor's ship but Mohammed Shami trapped Mithun right in front of the stumps to give India the third breakthrough.

Before Lunch break, Mushfiqur Rahim had a few close calls and was dropped on three by Virat Kohli stationed at third slip.

Bangladesh are on backfoot with 63 for 3 after the first session and need a big score from their captain and experienced players like Rahim and Mahmudullah to comeback into this game

earlier, Bangladesh have won the toss and opted to bat first in the first test of the two- match Test series against India in Indore.

The decision is being hailed as a brave one by critics as the wicket has enough grass on it to cause problems for the batsmen, with humidity expected.

This is the Tigers' first match of the World Test Championship. It also marks Mominul Haque's debut asa test captain as Bangladesh look to upset the top-ranked Test team.
