Drug peddler killed in Khilkhet shootout

A suspected drug dealer was killed in a shootout in Khilkhet of Dhaka early today.

The deceased, Mizanur Rahman Mintu, 34, alias Megha Mintu, was accused in 12 murder, arms and drug related cases, Md Kamruzzaman, an assistant director of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-1, said.

Mintu hailed from Bakerganj, Barishal, and used to live in Dhaka since 2010, the Rab official added.

The shootout took place between a group of drug dealers and Rab team in Swadesh Property area around 1:15am, he said.

A Rab member was also injured in the firing.

Three fire arms, cartage and huge number of yaba tablets were recovered from the spot, the official said.
