A Dhaka court today took cognisance of the charges against 25 students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), accused in the Abrar Fahad murder case.

After scrutinizing the case dockets, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the order in presence of 22 accused.

Three of the accused -- Morsheduzzaman Jishan, Mustafa Rafid and Ehtashamul Rabbi Tanim -- are still on the run.

The court set January 30 for hearing on charge framing against the accused in the case.

On October 7, Abrar, a second-year student of electrical and electronics engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, was beaten to death by a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in Dhaka.
