Shampratik Deshkal— the most popular weekly in the country —celebrated its 7th founding anniversary today at its office. The program continued featuring cake cutting ceremony, discussion meetings, and a cultural show.
On this occasion, the weekly received floral greetings from the people of various classes including professors, intellectuals, educationists, doctors, columnists, Youth, and Student leaders. In a true sense, the media house was full of vibrant with the well-wishers. Some famed Poets, artists, athletic, film and theater personalities were also present in the founding anniversary.
Bangladesh Bank ex-governor Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Educationist Salimullah Khan, General Secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh, Saiful Haque, Electricity Expert and former Director-General of Power Cell BD Rahmatullah; Farid, Farida Akter, executive director of Ubinig, researchers Helal Mohiuddin, among others voiced a few valuable words about Shampratik Deshkal and its impartial journalism to move forward to prosperous Bangladesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Eliash Uddin Palash, Editor of Shampratik Deshkal said playing a positive role in building a prosperous and progressive country is one of the goals of the weekly. He also said that we are committed to respecting social values and cooperating in the struggle for the protection of human rights, and committed to preventing corruption and wrongdoing. He further added that there are many young writers around us whose writing space is shrinking but we made a home for their writing printed. Along with the elders, young writers have found importance in our pages. Through this effort, we have given birth to numerous new buds. In the coming days, they will continue to spread the aroma and beauty, we are sure. And It is our responsibility to take care of these bugs and to give birth to more new bugs in advance of the anniversary. That is how we are trying to turn the weekly into a common platform for young and old writers. However, to rebuild the new ones, we are trying to free readers from the monotony of repetitions of monotonous writings. Gradually, it will become clear, visible.
Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed said, I regularly read the weekly. There are many more newspapers in Bangladesh. But the difference between the weekly with the others is of the neutrality. This is the most recent feature of the weekly.
Salimullah Khan urged the weekly to play a vital role in stopping the atrocities committed on Bangla language by others--including Bangla Academy.
On behalf of the publisher, Naser Shahriar Zahedi said that the weekly wants to print creative and good writing seriously. Besides, the publicity of the weekly is slowly increasing, which is a big achievement.
At the end of the program, folk music was performed by baul artist Latif Sarkar and his team.
