Despite the missed opportunities, the second session of the day was a successful one for Bangladesh as they managed to bag Masvaure and Taylor's wicket on the opening day of the one-off Test against Zimbabwe at Mirpur's Sher-e Bangla National Stadium.

Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan gave Bangladesh some respite when he took two wickets in the second session on Saturday.

Ervine did not bat on 60 though Sikandar Raza did not make seven out as they tried to restore the series.

With a simple catch off his own bowling, Nayeem dismissed Prince Masvaure for 64, breaking the batsman's 111-run second-wicket stand with skipper Craig Ervine.

Nayeem then bowled Brendan Taylor in his next over for 10 and helped to reduce Zimbabwe to 150-3 at tea break in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh had the only win in pacer Abu Jayed's opening session when opener Kevin Kasuza offered Nayeem Hasan a gully catch for two after Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bowl first.
