18 Injured As Private Car Ploughs through Crowd in Kurmitola

At least 18 people, including one child and four women, were injured as a result of a private car ploughing through a crowd in the town of Kurmitola on Sunday noon.

Four of them suffered critical injuries, police said.

Eleven of the injured were known as Farid, Rajjak, Azim, Rajib, Rashed, Bakkar, Azizul Islam, Salma, Rahima, Maksuda and Nazma.

Kazi Sahan Haque, an officer in charge of the Cantonment Police Station, said the victims were at the bus stop when they were struck by a private car.

"Six of them have been taken to Kurmitola General Hospital. Four of the critically injured, including the boy, were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital," said the OC.

Another victim was taken to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital.
