Four, Including Son, to Die for Killing Tangail Man

A Tangail court today sentenced four, including the son of the victim, to death for killing a man in Bhaghuria Dakshinpara village under Mirzapur Upazila of Tangail in 2013.

The murder was over a land dispute.

Farhan Ferdous, additional district and session judge of Tangail court-2, handed over the verdict this noon.

The death penalty awardees are -- Asaduzzaman Miah, 42, Johurul Islam,55, Mohammad Lukman, 40, and Abdul Manan, 40.

Asaduzzaman is the son of the victim Abdul Awal.

According to the prosecution, Asaduzzaman locked in an altercation with his father Awal over a land-related issue on June 30, 2013.

On the same night, Asaduzzaman with his three cohorts -- Johurul, Lukman and Mannan -- stabbed his father indiscriminately and left him dead on the spot.

Following the killing, Sub Inspector Shamal Kumar Dutta of Mirzapur Police Station filed a murder case mentioning five, including the four.

All of the accused are now on the run.

Police submitted the charge sheet against the four and dropped a name out from the charge sheet as the investigation found no link of the accused in the murder.
