Ishraque Also Seek DSCC Polls Cancellation

Raising allegations of irregularity and corruption in the recently-held election to Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), BNP nominated mayoral candidate in the city poll Ishraque has filed a case seeking cancellation of its results.

Allegations have been made in the case that massive irregularity and corruption took place in the election to the Dhaka South City Corporation election. The election was not held in a proper way. And people did not go to the polling centers to cast votes.

Earlier, Tabith Awal, BNP backed contestant for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) poll, also filed a case seeking cancellation of the poll results on March 2.

The defendants in Ishraque's case are Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda, Returning Officer Md Abul Kasem and newly elected mayor of DSCC Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and five others.

According to the case, Ishraque claimed that massive irregularity and corruption took place in the election to the Dhaka South City Corporation.

DNCC, DSCC elections held on February 1 last when Awami League candidates Atiqul and Taposh won the mayoral positions.
