2 Cops Arrested for Snatching Money in Satkhira

Two officers of the Police Detective Branch (DB) were arrested for allegedly snatching money from cattle traders on the Satkhira-Kaliganj road near the Pushpakati area in Debhata Upazila of the district.

Police have arrested an offender named Mosharraf Hossain on Tuesday and, on the grounds of his statement to the Satkhira Judicial Magistrate Court, arrested Sub-Inspector (SI) Malay Basu and constable Rafique of Jessore DB Police.

Satkhira DB Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohidul Islam said: "The two on-duty policemen were from Jessore DB Police, and today we have taken them to trial."

On 4 March, around 10 p.m., the two policemen threatened and grabbed Tk1.29 lakh from two cattle traders, Shaokat Hossain and Hafizur Rahman. As per the case statement, Hafizur Rahman filed a case against them on 5 March in relation to the incident.
