Draft Automobile Policy Finalized

Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said today that the government has finalized the 'Automobile Development Policy 2020 ' draft to provide the essential support to local car-producing industries.

"The Ministry of Industry will develop a strategy to ensure the steady growth of the country's automobile industry. The draft policy will be finalized soon after discussion with the stakeholders, "he added.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on “Potentiality of the Automobile Industry in Bangladesh” at the Army Golf Club in the capital.

Chairman of the Ma Enterprise Md Abdus Sattar presided over the function while Chairman of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) Md Rais Uddin delivered a speech on the occasion.

Humayun said one of the major aims of the government was to produce world-class cars at a low cost so that the country’s people could buy cars at a low price. For achieving the goal, the government had taken initiatives to form the automobile industrial policy, he added.

After the implementation of the policy, he said, the existing problems, including duty issues, would be solved for developing the automobile industry.

The industries minister said the government is establishing 100 economic zones across the country and implementing a huge number of programs in a waterway, railway, and airway for achieving the sustainable development goals.
