Singapore Celebrates Bangabandhu's Birth Centenary

In Singapore, the Bangladesh High Commission observed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary and National Children's Day 2020 in a fitting manner.

The program of the day started with hoisting the national Flag by Md Mustafizur Rahman, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Singapore in the presence of expatriate Bangladeshis and High Commission officials today.

Then a floral wreath was laid at the portrait of the Father of the Nation.

Messages of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out to the audience.



A documentary based on his life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was screened.

A discussion meeting on the significance and importance of the day was held in the hall room of the chancery.

The High Commissioner in his speech mentioned that Bangabandhu made his place in the heart of the Bengalis by putting his footsteps in every political movement that ultimately led to the independence of Bangladesh.

Paying glowing tribute to the memory of the Father of the Nation, the High Commissioner said that Bangabandhu was a visionary leader and successful Stateman.



He gave a vivid description of Bangabandhu’s political wisdom and visionary leadership that helped to formulate the 1st Five-Year Plan- a key document in building the “Sonar Bangla”.

To mark the day, the hall room of the day was decorated with colorful banner and posters.

Books and artworks on Bangabandhu were displayed at the chancery.

The program came to an end by offering Munajat seeking the salvation of the departed soul of the Father of the Nation and continued peace and prosperity of the nation.
