COVID 19: British Citizens Urged to Leave Bangladesh

Biman Bangladesh's flights to London and Manchester are still open, says British High Commissioner. 

The UK government has urged its residents to leave Bangladesh as the cases of Covid-19 are on the rise.

“Biman Bangladesh’s flights are still open to London and Manchester. Therefore, we are advising you to return back to the UK,” the British High Commission in Dhaka said on its verified Facebook page on Friday.

Coronavirus(Covid-19) has shaken countries all over the world, leading to widespread lockdowns and cancelations of flights.

Since last week the cases of the current Covid-19 pandemic have started to rise.

According to Worldometers.info on Thursday 60,841 new cases were reported taking the total number of Covid-19 cases globally to 532,328.

The number is 12,380 higher than that of the previous day (48,461) and 17,097 more than Tuesday (43,744) indicating a steep and worrying rise in the rate of new infections.

The number of new cases globally was 30.648 a week ago, on March 20, and 10.907 a week before that on March 13.

The number of active cases so far has stood at 383,883
