The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged all private universities to halt intakes, online tests, and assessments during coronavirus times.

The Commission issued a press release in this respect on Monday.

The UGC has found that following the closure in the wake of the COVID-19 debacle, several private universities have shamelessly initiated the procedure for enrolling students for the summer semester.

It also observed that universities are holding online tests and examinations in breach of the UGC guideline.

The commission has urged all private universities to stop these activities.

Earlier on March 23, UGC advised all universities to start to research online, although higher education institutions were told to shut down to avoid coronavirus spread.

As of Monday, 12 died and 123 people were diagnosed with coronavirus in Bangladesh. Thirty-three of them survived the infection.
