Coronavirus: 3 Prisoners Sent to Isolation Ward at Satkhira Jail

The Satkhira District Jail authorities admitted three prisoners with a fever to the prison hospital on Thursday.

Dr. Saifullah Al Kafi, a district prison official, said that three prisoners had been sent to the isolation ward because they got fever.

They will be transferred to their respective cells after recovery, he added.

Jail Superintendent Kamrul Islam said they have taken necessary precautions.

The district jail, capable of housing 400 prisoners, presently houses 530 prisoners, 16 of which are women.

Overcrowded jails remain at significant risk of coronavirus outbreaks.

On Thursday, Bangladesh announced the detection of 112 new cases and one death. So far, 330 cases and 21 deaths have been recorded in the country.
