Japan has announced a national state of emergency owing to the country's deteriorating coronavirus epidemic.
The move allows state governments to warn residents to live inside, but without economic or legal force measures.
The state of emergency will continue in place until 6 May.
Previously, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had announced a month-long state of emergency in seven regions, BBC reports.
