Tom Hanks' blood is being used to create a coronavirus vaccine, the prolific actor revealed on the NPR podcast. The star and his wife Rita Wilson were hospitalized with COVID-19 in March as Hanks filmed Elvis Presley biopic for Baz Luhrmann.

Later that month, despite enduring more than two weeks in isolation, the pair moved to Los Angeles.

Hanks added that if it was to be made from his blood, he would call the vaccine Hank-ccine.

Coronavirus has claimed the lives of more than two lakh people all over the world. The United States is by far the hardest-hit country in the pandemic.
