Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has died in a hospital in Mumbai at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer, his brother Randhir Kapoor said today.

Randhir told the media late last night that Rishi had been taken to HN Reliance Hospital yesterday morning.

He was suffering from cancer and had breathing trouble, our New Delhi correspondent reports quoting Randhir.

The actor, known for his work in films like "Bobby" and "Chandni", was treated in New York for cancer and returned to Mumbai last year.

Rishi is survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor, son Ranbir and daughter Riddhima.

Rishi Kapoor's co-star in "Amar Akbar Anthony", Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter and Facebook to say "He's gone. Rishi Kapoor, gone, just passed away. I am destroyed."

Rishi was slated to star in a Bollywood adaptation of the Hollywood movie "The Intern" with Deepika Padukone.

His death comes a day after another celebrated actor, Irrfan Khan, died of cancer.
