Bangladesh's batsman Mushfiqur Rahim provided financial assistance to 50 wheelchair cricketers.

"Mushfiqur 'bhai' provided financial assistance to those who played international matches and represented the national team," said Mohammad Mohsin, captain of the physically challenged cricketers.

He said the financial assistance was sent to the players through mobile banking.

Mohsin said that assistance was given to wheelchair players from all parts of the country. "We are distributing money to players through mobile banking," he said.

"This is very good news for us that a player like Mushfiqur Rahim has come up to help us," he added.

Mushfiqur has already given half of his monthly salary to the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh’s (CWAB) fund along with other national players to raise funds for the COVID-19-affected people.

He also issued 200 PPE and hand sanitizers to health staff at Bogura Medical College. In addition, he gave financial assistance to the people of Bogra, which is his birthplace, through the local councilor.

Mushfiqur also offered one-time monetary assistance to 30 net bowlers before placing his bat, which he used to score the maiden's double century, up for auction

He raised Tk. 17 lakh from the auction, which he will now spend for the coronavirus-affected people in the country.
