BNP on Saturday expressed deep shock at the death of Awami League presidium member and former Health Minister Mohammad Nasim.
''We mourn the demise of Mohammad Nasim. We also express our sorrow over his death," said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Addressing a virtual press briefing from his Uttara residence, he said Mohammad Nasim was a veteran political leader who was working as the convener of the Awami-league 14-party alliance.
Fakhrul prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Nasima and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Mohammad Nasim passed away at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital on Saturday at the age of 72.
On June 1, Nasim was admitted to the hospital as he was feeling unwell, and he later tested positive for coronavirus.
Born on April 2, 1948, Mohammed Nasim served as Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister of Home Affairs respectively during 2014–2019 and 1999–2001.
